Aladokun is known as a wonderful spiritual teacher and advisor, guiding many to a better position in life. In addition, she is committed to and knows that healing is required on all levels: spirit, mind, and body. And because people gravitate toward different healing modalities, Aladokun has expanded her spiritual scope to include bodywork; giving people other ways to bring spiritual balance and wellness into their lives. As a Certified Massage and Sound Therapist, Aladokun is able to use her intuitive abilities, the Ase of Obatala (power, light and healing) upon those who suffer physically, emotionally, mentally and energetically. She says, “Today, people are under great stress and they need all the help that they can get. If I can give someone relief through massage and/or sound therapy vs. ritual then I’m still doing what I was born to do.” She is dedicated to her spiritual (Ifa) studies and has a compassionate commitment to knowledge and understanding of her culture. She continues to share her vision; promoting the education of mind, body, and spirit through the inspiration of articles, poetry, prayer, rituals, veneration, health, and healing. Oba Ilari Aladokun was born and raised in New York City and has lived in New Jersey for the past several years. She graduated from Murray Bergtraum High School for Business Careers in New York City, and after fewer than two years of additional study she graduated and received a certificate from the American Business Institute where she worked in the field of business administration for well over twenty years. She is a priestess of Yoruba/Lukumi and has practiced spiritualism for over a decade. She has been initiated into several mysteries, including receiving the Hand of Ifa (mano de Orula) in January 2000 and Palo Mayombe in July 2000. Shortly thereafter, she reached the seat of Kariocha and was initiated in August 2000 in Havana, Cuba, crowned Obatala. She holds several healing certificates: Usui Reiki Master Teacher, Registered Lightarian Reiki Master Facilitator, a Certified Intuitive Counselor of the National Spiritualist Association, and Ordained as a Spiritualist Minister. Ancestor's Path

After Reading Malidoma Some's book, Of Water & the Spirit, I felt compelled to find a way to honor my ancestors and learn more about our ancient cultures and history. This book is awesome and answered so many questions and alleviated many of my fears that I had in regards to ancestral reverence. Initially when I searched for the book, it was out of print. I tried for several months unsuccessfully to contact the author and finally asked my ancestors to help me. To my surprise, the very next day, I received an email from the author and was absolutely elated at how fast/anxious our ancestors are to help us. Once I received the book, I was not disappointed. The books addressed many questions that came up on things I was unsure about. I didn't want to do anything out of ignorance that my ancestors woud find offensive. This book is an excellent starting place to assist you with setting up your altar and going forward. I was very delighted when I came across the powerful prayers that totally resonate with you when you say them. This author has a way of putting the emotions/concerns that you feel/have into beautiful prayers that feel healing to your soul. This book also contains information on spiritual cleansing and rituals. This is the only book that I could find that provided me with a wealth of information on ancestral reverance. It pretty much contains everything you need to know without having to buy other books to complete your research/tasks. Any person from any religion and walk of life can benefit from the information provided in this book. I also appreciate her sharing some of her personal stories/experience which I'm sure many of us can relate to. I have recommended it to many family and friends and I strongly feel it will prove to be a "jewel" in the times we are currently facing. After studying more about our culture and history, I learned and realized how valuable and important it is to honor those who shoulders we stand upon. They went through so much to give us the freedom we have today. Even more important, the ancient ancestors were MAGNIFICENT and made awesome contributions to humanity (and all over this continent) that will make you jaw dropping proud and honored to have even a small drop of their blood in your body. It's sad that many of us don't know our true history, culture and why we are in the condition that we are in today. The brainwashing, fears, our own ignorance and the spoon fed lies that was shoved into our consciousness - as it relates to the true history of our culture and ancestors are keeping us in bondage and fear and lost. Study your true culture and the history of how we came to worship the way we do today and you will realize the value and importance of ancestral reverence.
