Mr. Tillet does an admiral job in producing the first biography
of C.W. Leadbeater. He is balanced in his approach to this
larger that life person. He supports his conclusions based on
carefully researched information. Some of his conclusions may
not be appreciated by Theosophists, but they are real none
the less. I heartly recommend this book for anyone who wishes
to know more about Leadbeater.

Facing the shadow

Facing the Shadow is good work book for those of us that have some sexual addiction issues. It is definitely not for the light of heart. My therapist recommended that I get it and begin working through it. It gets incredibly deep and uncomfortable. However it really begins to break down the denial that we so often carry around. I worked through it once hastily but am going back through it taking more time and allowing it to sink it. It is incredibly informative about why we are doing what we are doing, providing great insight into our behaviors. It is gender neutral which is a huge plus! You don't find much material out there for the female sex addict. It is worth the buy.

I'm going through this workbook with my therapist. I do a chapter for homework and then we go through it together in session. It's a very thorough look at sex addiction and breaks down the addiction into many pieces which has been extremely beneficial to my understanding how the addiction works.

About the Author
Neil Roberts is an aerospace engineer, a 25 year member of the Sports Car Club of America, and a professional race car design engineer. Neil competed very successfully in autocross events and SCCA club racing for 20 years, then competed as a professional racing team engineer at Hall/VDS Racing for 4 years. In addition to working with Jim Hall, Neil worked with drivers John Andretti and Teo Fabi. Neil then joined Swift Engineering and designed 28% of the parts in Swift's first Champ car, the 007.i. That car won its debut race with Michael Andretti driving. Neil has also been a technical advisor to Texas A&M University's Formula SAE program and a design judge every year at the Formula SAE California competition. Additional projects that Neil has accomplished at Swift include chief engineering the design and construction of the Eclipse Concept Jet in 200 days, and working on projects for DARPA.

Highly recommended for aspiring race track engineers

This is an excellent book that covers the "why-to" versus the "how-to". Roberts assumes you have read the Carroll Smith "To Win" series of books, and it is necessary that you do so to get the most from this book. Roberts is very effective at provoking thought of how to apply professional level racing practices to an amateur level. The peer-to-peer style of writing makes for an easy read, and bridges the gap between thinking like a driver and thinking like an engineer.

"Think Fast" book was very easy to read and understand the principles behind why a car does what it does.

I bought the book (along with several competing books) because I was trying to redesign the suspension on my racecar. It is no longer a street vehicle, so I was trying to remove the 'street handling' characteristics. I found that Neil presented a clear path to help me with this, beyond the theory and numbers seen in other texts.

Home Run in age regression stories!!!

This is what I was looking for in the book that has ten POV tales!!!! In this anthology Susan knocks it out of the park. All seven stories are enjoyable, well thought out, and complete. I left each story satisfied with the ending and where the characters were left off. Definitely worth the price and read.

About the Author

Franz P�chhacker is Associate Professor of Interpreting Studies in the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna. His professional background is in conference interpreting, and he has worked freelance in conference and media settings since the late 1980s. He has lectured widely and published some 100 papers and reviews. He is the author of the textbook Introducing Interpreting Studies (Routledge 2004/2016), Associate Editor of the ‘Benjamins Translation Library’ series and co-editor of Interpreting: International Journal of Research and Practice in Interpreting (John Benjamins).

Outstanding, Comprehensive. Insightful. Entertaining.

Wow. As a t1 diabetic diagnosed at 7 and now going for a phd in public health, this was illuminating on many levels. As a diabetic, I "knew" how diabetics suffered a miserable death prior to insulin, but I was touched deeply by the hard work of so many great-minded researchers, doctors, and scientists. And learning the names of those who never received proper acknowledgement/recognition for their important contributions. As a researcher, it was amusing (& as a diabetic disappointing) to hear how many contributors were shut out from recognition because of jealousies, grudges & plain ol' politics. The author did an outstanding job of bringing all of the "characters" to life - you feel like a fly on the wall witnessing the shenanigans, frustrations, ideas and euphoria experienced by them.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants the behind the scenes look into (& gossip! behind) the great undertaking that enabled insulin to reach and save the lives of so many diabetics.

Non-Fiction at Its Best

This is the ideal book for all those diabetics who are afraid to start insulin, hate their disease or feel that life has unfairly dealt them a bad hand.

They should find inspiration in the life of the young Elizabeth Evans Hughes, a child diabetic who survived the years before insulin by adhering to a brutal near-starvation diet for four years, the only effective treatment at the time, and then faithfully took the newly discovered insulin and lived to be 74. Elizabeth got diabetes at 11, before insulin's discovery, and would likely have died within one year were it not for her determination and iron will.

The story of the equally determined Dr. Banting, insulin's chief discoverer, is just as compelling as are the battles of personality and will that developed among those connected with the discovery and development of insulin.

Those who live with diabetes or diabetics should find the human stories in this book as inspiring as I did. Michael Bliss the author has managed to place history in the form of a novel.

A great read for Type 1 Diabetics!

As a long-term Type 1 Diabetic, I thought I knew a lot about the discovery of Insulin. Man, was I wrong? I found this to be a well-written and well-researched history. This book opened my eyes to the contributions of others besides Banting and Best and gave me a greater appreciation of these two primary researchers.

Melissa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Multnomah University in Portland, OR, and is a member of SCBWI. An educator since 2012, she has taught multiple ages and subjects. However, it was working as the school librarian where her love for children’s literature grew. During her free time, Melissa and her husband enjoy playing volleyball and playing outdoors with their beloved Goldendoodle.

Delightful little book by a new author and illustrater...kids will lean much from this one

What a delightful, well written and illustrated little book this one is! The story, told in nicely done verse explores a dilemma we all face from time to time. You have folks with opinions and then you have folks that are driven by pure facts. There is plenty of room in this world for both points of view and Melissa Polyakov gently explores and illustrates how it would be a happier world for us all if each side accepted the other.

I had to smile when I read this tale as it brought memories to a young sergeant that worked for me in the military years ago. This young man's entire life was based on FACTS. If he could absolutely verify something in black and white, he simply could not function. To be truthful, this kid was an absolute pain to work with. I would tell him that from time to time you just had to let our imagination go, express your opinion and not necessarily back that opinion up with volumes of `facts.' Opinions are what add zip to our lives and this point is well made in this well thought-out story. It should also be noted that the author is quite subtle is sneaking in the fact that we need to accept the opinions of others. We may not agree with those opinions, but we must certainly listen and give them a chance.

The author has explored the pros and cons of facts v/s opinions by using food as an example...a nicely done little meal Miss Opinion cooks for Mr. Fact. It all works out quite well and the point is well driven home.

I love the simply verse the author uses to tell her tale; it is quite captivating. The illustrations are bright and very well done and go perfectly with the story. This is one of those books that can be used quite effectively on a one on one read, or better yet, a group read. There is plenty of room here to stimulate discussions with the wee ones you are reading it to or with. It does hold quite a number of good vocabulary words and uses them in a fashion that they are quite understandable even to the very young.

Melissa Polyakov, the author and Yana Gruntkovskayo, the illustrator, make a fine team and I am hoping we will see more of their work on down the line.

This book will be given to my daughter who teaches first grade (27 years now) to be used in her classroom.

Teachers, add this to your collection!

As children's literature is a wonderful way to engage students and create interest in abstract concepts, this children's book makes the perfect unit starter for teaching fact and opinion in elementary classrooms. The storyline is fresh and the illustrations are captivating. The characters are relatable and the story delightful. Children will see the value of expressing opinions as a way of adding color and interest to the world of facts. I hope to see more from this author and illustrator combination!

This is a fantastic children's book

This is a fantastic children's book! It's a charming story! Readers will better understand facts and opinions and be exposed to vocabulary words like objective and subjuctive. The story is first and foremost, so kids won't even realize how much they are learning! (It is written by a teacher.)

The illustrations are darling and lend themselves perfectly to the story.
